Chithra Sreekumar (1965–2021) was a teacher, writer, poet, lyricist and cookery expert, remembered through a creative life spanning children's literature, poetry, short stories, essays, cookery books, television, devotional music and light-music recordings.
She was associated with NSS Arts College for Women, Perunthanni, and studied at NSS College for Women, Neeramankara, and University College Thiruvananthapuram, where she completed her M.A.
Her work in cookery has also taken her to television, cooking programmes and numerous practical cookery classes attended by working professionals, students and other home cooks, where she shared easy methods and useful kitchen tips across a wide range of dishes.
She also developed Chithra's Recipes, a food venture registered under the FSS Act 2006. Her homemade dishes and original preparations were sold mainly through Welgate Organic, Kuravankonam, Thiruvananthapuram, and she also coordinated sales through Home Chef's Hub.
Her creativity also extended to handmade jewellery, decorative arts and crafts. She had a keen interest in agriculture and home gardening, cultivating a variety of vegetables and fruits. During her school and college years, she was also active in Scouts & Guides, reflecting an early interest in service, practical skills and creative pursuits.
Family & Personal Life. Chithra was the daughter of K. R. Chandrasekharan Nair and Vimala C. Nair. She was married to P. Sreekumar, Retired Deputy Finance Officer at Veterinary University, Wayanad. Their sons are Sreejith, Expert Software Engineer at Phoenix, Technopark, and Sreejishnu, Software Engineer at UST Global. Their daughters-in-law are Krishnapriya M. Kumar and Malavika Manoj, both with Infosys.

Chithra extended her culinary work into a registered home-made food venture, preparing and selling a varied range of traditional, experimental and health-oriented dishes. Chithra conducted multiple cookery classes covering a broad range of dishes. Participants included working professionals, students and other cooking enthusiasts, with the sessions focused on approachable methods, practical techniques and easy-to-follow tips.

Alongside literature, cookery and music, Chithra has explored a variety of handcrafts. Her work includes handmade fashion jewellery such as necklaces and bangles, decorative pieces, recycled crafts and small home-garden creations.
Chithra was involved in Scouts & Guides during her school and college days. The preserved badges shown here form a small part of that early chapter of participation, service and skill-building.

Chithra Sreekumar received a Certificate of Appreciation in “Souhridamathsaram,” conducted by the Harithakeralam Facebook Group. The recognition was presented during Haritholsavam 2016 at Adhyapaka Bhavan, Trivandrum, on 14 May 2016.
